At Organa we like to celebrate natural beauty products and organic skincare. Here, we discuss our hero ingredient, Argan Oil and all its benefits, both internally and externally. 10-15 years ago Argan Oil made a splash in many products (especially hair products), but the industry has gone quiet on this super oil. We wanted to raise it’s profile again and remember why this is such an inspiring ingredient - not to be forgotten.
Argan oil comes from the kernels on the fruit from the argan tree native to Morocco, however, today argan oil is used across the world for its many, many benefits and should find a place firmly in your beauty arsenal.
What are the benefits of argan oil?
Hailed as a super beauty product, argan is believed to have great anticancer properties and is also good for:
- Heart health
- Diabetes
- Wound and scar healing
- Reduce signs of aging
- Acne
- Dry skin conditions such as eczema
- Stretch marks (including during pregnancy)
How to use argan oil?
Argan oil is great for so many things when it comes to your beauty routine and works well as a lip moisturiser, foot, hand and nail treatment. Cosmetic argan oil and hair products containing argan oil are also fantastic for dandruff prone scalps for both men and women, and work well to nourish the ends of hair in between salon visits. When it comes to skincare, to activate its anti-aging properties massage a few drops into your face and neck before bedtime.
As you may know argan oil is known for its anti frizz quality and heat protection of the hair so you can use the oil as a leave-in conditioner. The best part is that argan oil is not all greasy and a few drops in your palms, which you run through your hair is all you need. You can also mix argan oil with some aloe vera gel as well as some water and spray it on your hair whenever you need to style it.
Can you eat argan oil?
Argan oil can be consumed and was originally popular for its use as a cooking ingredient and its nutty flavour, but it must be noted that if you wish to cook with it then it’s important to opt for culinary argan oil - not cosmetic.
